GFF MK & UK - GirlsFlowFree

Milton Keynes

Period Poverty Project

On Saturday 9th April 2022, we launched our Milton Keynes period poverty project. The event was attended by the then Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Amanda Marlow. She pledged her support and counted the efforts of Girls Flow Free in bringing change for girls and women in Milton Keynes. Our Founder and Executive Director in her speech highlighted the negative effects of period poverty and it’s potential impact on mental health. She also gave an overview of the next phase of the project which would involve educating girls on menstrual hygiene before their first menstruation and sewing workshops to help people experiencing social anxiety and other mental health issues. GFF MK is working in partnership with local charities including the MK Store House to make period products accessible to girls and women.
