She noted they started with the provision of sanitary pads to the girls in the school last year and “I think that one will continue but the provision of the pad has been extended to another school in Kpalsi through their Northern Regional Coordinator, Mr. Gurundoo Emmanuel”.

She said the project is being implemented with funding support from the Ghana School Aid. Sanitary pads, veronica buckets among others were also provided to selected schools. The Assembly Member for the Sagnarigu electoral area, Mr. Issah Baba commended the NGO for their timely intervention. “I sincerely thank the NGO and its partners for the tremendous support to girl child education, special thanks also go to my honorable presiding member, hon. Salim Abubakari , GES and the management of the school for supporting through out. We pray the NGO continue to move ahead and hope the Dimala community members will help guard this facility to ensure it serves the purpose” he said.

Like Oliver Twist, the Presiding Member of the Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly, hon. Salim Abubakari, called for the extension of the project to cover the entire Municipality.

He was however, expressed worry over the encroachment of the school land by private developers. He appealed to the residents of Dimala, a community in the Sagnarigu Municipality to rise up and protect the school’s land from encroachers.

He also appealed to the beneficiaries of the project to value the intervention by not absenting themselves from school frequently. He said the school was lacking furniture and therefore appealed to other NGOs to support the Dimala A.M.E basic school with furniture. He commended the NGO for the project adding that the intervention will go a long to get the girl-child stay in school.
